Wakayama

The Wakayama Domain, also known as the Kishu Domain, was a Japanese feudal domain in Kii Province which existed from 1600 to 1871, with Wakayama Castle serving as its capital. The domain was founded by Tokugawa Yorinobu, the tenth son of shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, and it was ruled by the Matsudaira clan from 1641 to the Bakumatsu era of the mid-19th century. The domain supported the Tokugawa Shogunate during the Boshin War, and it was abolished in 1871 with the creation of Wakayama and Mie Prefectures.
