
Vyacheslav von Plehve (20 April 1846 – 28 July 1904) was Minister of the Interior of the Russian Empire from 1902 to 1904, succeeding Dmitry Sipyagin and preceding Pyotr Dmitrievich Sviatopolk-Mirsky.
Biography[]
Vyacheslav von Plehve was born on 20 April 1846 in Meshchovsk, Russian Empire, and his family moved to Warsaw, Congress Poland in 1851. In 1867, Von Plehve entered the Ministry of Justice after studying law, and he became the prosecutor of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Justice in 1879. After 1881, he persecuted the Narodnaya Volya terrorist groups, which had assassinated Czar Aleksandr II of Russia, and he would enter the Interior Ministry. In 1902, he became Minister of the Interior, but a bomb was thrown into his carriage by an anarchist in St. Petersburg on 28 July 1904, killing him.
