Vox is a right-wing populist and anti-immigrant political party in Spain which was founded on 17 December 2013 by Jose Luis Gonzalez Quiros and other former People's Party of Spain members. The party opposed Basque and Catalan separatism in general, held right-wing and Christian democratic views, supported the dismantling of the autonomous communities in favor of a centralized government, supported pro-life causes, supported the replacement of same-sex marriages with "civil unions" due to their belief that the Spanish word for marriage matrimonio meant that gays could not marry, supported economic liberalism, endorsed anti-Islam and anti-mass immigration discourses, criticized multiculturalism, believed that Spanish sovereignty resided in the Spanish state alone, and supported the monarchy. Support for the party grew following the 2017 Barcelona attack, and, on 2 December 2018, the party won 12 seats in the regional parliament of Andalusia.
