Red Army

The Voronezh Front was an army group of the Soviet Red Army that existed from June 1942 to 20 October 1943. The front was commanded by Filipp Golikov in 1942 and Nikolai Vatutin in 1943, and the front took part in the defense of Voronezh, the Battle of Stalingrad, the Third Battle of Kharkov, the Battle of Kursk, and the counterattacks of late 1943. The front was replaced by the 1st Ukrainian Front in October 1943.
