Flag of the voelkisch movement
The Voelkisch movement was a movement in Interwar Germany which promoted German ethnic nationalism. The movement worshipped European mythology and the Germanic peoples of old, and Germanic runes became symbols of the movement, as did the swastika symbol. In Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler stated that Nazism was a voelkisch ideology, and that voelkisch was a Nazi ideology. The movement led to the resurgence of German nationalism, and Nazi Germany sought to unite the Germanic peoples under one empire.
