
Maxim Yuryevich Fomin (25 April 1982-2 April 2023), also known as Vladlen Tatarsky, was a Ukrainian-born Russian bank robber, milblogger, and Vostok Battalion volunteer during the Donbas War. He was assassinated in a bombing in St. Petersburg in 2023.
Biography[]
Maxim Fomin was born in Makiivka, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union in 1982, and he was imprisoned in Ukraine for bank robbery in 2011. He escaped from prison during the Donbas War and joined the DPR Armed Forces, only to be caught and re-imprisoned. Alexander Zakharchenko pardoned him and allowed him to fight alongside the Vostok Battalion, using the Vladimir Lenin-inspired alias "Vladlen Tatarsky". He moved to Moscow in 2019 and became a milblogger with 560,000 followers on Telegram, and he supported the escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War and attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure. On 2 April 2023, he was killed in a bombing at a cafe owned by Yevgeny Prigozhin.
