Vladislaus III of Moravia (1227-1247) was Margrave of Moravia under his father Wenceslaus I of Bohemia.
Biography[]
Vladislaus was born in 1227, son of Wenceslaus I of Bohemia and Philip of Swabia's daughter Kunigunde of Hohenstaufen; he was the older brother of Ottokar I of Bohemia. Vladislaus was the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Bohemia, and his father appointed him Margrave of Moravia. In 1246, he sought to conquer the Duchy of Austria after the death of Frederick II of Austria at the Battle of the Leitha River, and he received the homage of the Austrian nobility. Therefore, he was Duke of Austria from 15 June 1246 until his own death on 3 January 1247, with Herman VI of Baden succeeding him as claimant to the duchy.
