Vladimir Ivanov

Vladimir Ivanovich Ivanov (1893-1938) was the head of government of the Uzbek SSR from 1925 to 1927, succeeding Fayzulla Khodzhayev and preceding Kuprian Kirkizh.

Biography[]

Vladimir Ivanovich Ivanov was born in Tula, Russian Empire in 1893, and he graduated from the Medical Faculty of Moscow University in 1918. During college, he became a member of the Bolsheviks, and he was appointed Secretary of the Khamovniki District Committee of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party in Moscow in 1917. In 1919, he became a member of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Ferghana Front in Turkestan, and he would become involved with Central Asian communist politics as head of government of the Uzbek SSR and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan. In 1927, he was replaced by Kuprian Kirkizh, and he was executed during the Great Purge.
