Vladimir Anatolyevich Boldyrev (5 January 1949-) was Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Army from 2008 to 2010, succeeding Alexey Maslov and preceding Aleksandr Postnikov.
Biography[]
Vladimir Anatolyevich Boldyrev was born on 5 January 1949 in Krasnoyarsky, Volgograd Oblast, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. He graduated from the Frunze Military Academy in 1978, and in 1994 he was given command of the Russian 36th Army. In July 2004 Boldyrev was given command of the Volga-Urals Military District and then made Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Army in 2008, leading the Russians during the Russo-Georgian War. He retired in 2010 after reaching the age limit for Russian generals.
