Vincenzo Vinciguerra

Vincenzo Vinciguerra (1949-) was a leader of the neo-fascist National Vanguard and Ordine Nuovo groups during the "Years of Lead" in Italy.

Biography[]

Vincenzo Vinciguerra was born in Catania, Sicily, Italy in 1949, and he became involved with the neo-fascist National Vanguard and Ordine Nuovo militant groups during the 1960s and 1970s. He masterminded the 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing, whose goal was to force Prime Minister Mariano Rumor to declare a state of emergency, and he was also responsible for the murder of three Carabinieri by car bomb in Peteano in 1972. He was protected by the Italian secret services until he started talking to the government, which led to him being put on trial and facing life in prison.
