Vincenzo Salvatore was an Italian Renaissance poet. In 1499, he was betrothed to marry Giulia Farnese, the mistress of Pope Alexander VI, and the Pope reluctantly accepted. The Pope claimed that he was deranged because of his line of employment, but Farnese convinced him that he could be the next Petrarch, and he allowed for her to marry him.
