Vincent Vega (1954 - 1994) was an American gangster and hitman that was part of the Wallace Organization, headed by Marsellus Wallace. He was the partner of Jules Winnfield before Winnfield's retirement due to his newfound religious beliefs after several .44 Magnum rounds narrowly missed him.

Vega was soon sent to accompany Wallace to assassinate Butch Coolidge, a boxer that was under Wallace's payroll, who ended up killing the boxer he was supposed to lose to. However, Vega was ambushed by Coolidge right as he finished defecating in Coolidge's apartment while Wallace was away, being shot to death with his own Uzi.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Vincent Vega was born in 1954 in Los Angeles, California, to a family of Italian and Puerto Rican descent; his cousin was the famous singer, Suzanne Vega. His younger brother, Vic, was born in 1957. While Vincent was suave and soft-spoken, though unintelligent, Vic was callous and ruthless, and very intelligent. The two became engrossed in the criminal underworld, with Vincent working for Marsellus Wallace and the Wallace Organization, a multi-ethnic crime syndicate and the most powerful in Los Angeles during the 1980s and 1990s, and Vic working for Joe Cabot and the Cabot Gang, an Irish Mob family in Los Angeles.

The Vega brothers ran a nightclub in Amsterdam, Netherlands, kicking chunks of the proceeds to both Wallace and Cabot. They also frequently visited Paris, France on business trips. Vic returned to Los Angeles in 1988 and was busted by the LAPD while working at a Cabot Gang warehouse and was sentenced to four years in prison.

Vincent returned to Los Angeles in 1994, two years after Vic was shot to death by LAPD undercover cop Freddy Newandyke in the aftermath of the 1992 Los Angeles diamond heist. Wallace partnered him with Jules Winnfield, a hitman for Wallace, and the two worked together on several missions for the crime boss. During this time, Vincent developed an addiction to heroin, having Lance Stoltz as his dealer.

1994 diamond retrieval[]

The drive[]

Wallace tasked both Vega and Winnfield with retrieving a briefcase of diamonds from Brett Whaley before killing him and his associates. Whaley previously recovered them from the sewer after Mr. Pink dropped them in a drain after the 1992 Los Angeles diamond heist. As they drove there, Vega discussed the use of marijuana in Amsterdam and the nuances between Europe and the United States, including buying glasses of beer in Dutch movie theaters and McDonald's establishments in Paris, as well as the fact that quarter-pounders were referred to as royales with cheese in France, due to the metric system. Vega also mentioned how fries were eaten with mayonnaise instead of ketchup in the Netherlands.

Upon arriving at Whaley's apartment block, the two headed to the back of Wallace's 1974 Chevrolet Nova to retrieve their chromed pistols; Vega's Colt M1911A1 and Winnfield's Star Model B, though they realized they should've brought shotguns upon realizing there'd likely be up to five men in Whaley's apartment. As they walked to Whaley's apartment, they talked about Marsellus Wallace's wife Mia Wallace, her former status as an actress, and the rumor about Antoine Roccamora getting thrown off a balcony on Marsellus' orders for giving Mia a foot massage. The two then debated over whether a foot massage was of a sexual nature, before arriving at Whaley's door.

Killing Whaley[]

The two entered Whaley's apartment after Marvin Jackson answered the door. Vega entered the kitchen to look for the briefcase, while Winnfield talked to Whaley and his friend Roger Stevens. Vega rolled a cigarette as Winnfield intimidated Whaley and Stevens by eating Whaley's Big Kahuna burger and drinking his Sprite. Stevens then told Vega where the briefcase was at after Winnfield asked him, Vega searching a cupboard by his knees and finding it.

After confirming to Winnfield that it was what they were after, Whaley began apologizing, only to be interrupted by Winnfield shooting Stevens in the gut, killing him. Vega watched as Winnfield did his theatrics, including asking what Wallace looked like, shooting Whaley in the shoulder after increasing frustration over Whaley's repeated use of the word "what", and a recital of a version of Ezekiel 29:17 that ended with Vega and Winnfield shooting Whaley to death as Jackson watched.
