Viktor Isaac Metiko (20 June 1984-), or Zane, is a Nigerian mercenary, former Nigerian Army captain, and the leader of the Jackals. He fought in various countries across the world, including against terrorists in Ukraine.
Biography[]
Viktor Isaac Metiko was born on June 20th, 1984 in Lagos, Nigeria. Eventually, he enlisted in the Nigerian Army and rose to the rank of Captain. On April 2nd, 2016, Metiko resigned after three of his complaints regarding mismanagement of foreign aid in the fight against al-Qatala were ignored, accusing the Nigerian government of withholding funds to combat al-Qatala.
Metiko and his brother Abraham formed the Jackals PMC shortly after his resignation. The group was funded by Russian money, black market petroleum and arms sales. During this time, Metiko began operating under the pseudonym of "Zane".
Zane recruited hundreds of men across Africa in his goal to fight off any and all terrorism threatening their people. Zane personally recruited two of his best men, the man known only as "Grinch", and an Egyptian arms dealer named Azur el-Sarraf. Ironically, the Jackals are designated as a terrorist group by Zane's native Nigeria and several NATO countries.
On June 12th, 2018, NATO launched Operation Iron Canopy in an attempt to capture Zane. The operation was a failure, with Zane reportedly escaping, as seen by SAS Lieutenant Jacob Thorne.
In March 2020, when Khaled al-Asad of Al-Qatala began a full-scale invasion of Donetsk, Ukraine, the Jackals were hired to fight against the terrorists in the city. Russia and NATO both negotiated to not have the latter capture Zane or any other member of the Jackals in Ukraine.
