The Victory Alliance was an Iraqi political alliance established by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in December 2017. The alliance supported al-Abadi's candidacy for Prime Minister during the 12 May 2018 parliamentary election, and the alliance intended to use al-Abadi's victory over the Islamic State as its main vehicle for re-election. The alliance was accused of corruption, and it placed third in the election after the Fatah Alliance and the Alliance Towards Reforms. In 2021, the Victory Alliance fell from 42 seats in the Council of Representatives to 4 seats, while the Fatah Alliance also suffered a severe setback and Nouri al-Maliki's State of Law Coalition gained seats; the elections were influenced by the 2019-2021 Iraqi protests, whose suppression by Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Units turned many voters against the pro-Iranian parties.
