Victoria Amelina (1 January 1986-1 July 2023) was a Ukrainian human rights campaigner and novelist. Born in Lviv, Ukrainian SSR, she emigrated to Canada at the age of fourteen and returned to Ukraine soon after, working in IT before becoming a full-time writer and poet in 2015. She wrote books about the Euromaidan revolution of 2014, advocated for the release of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov from a Russian prison, and worked as a war crimes researcher during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. She was mortally wounded by a Russian airstrike on Kramatorsk on 27 June 2023 while eating at a pizzeria, and she died of her injuries a few days later.
