
Vernon Wallace Thomson (5 November 1905-2 April 1988) was the Republican Governor of Wisconsin from 7 January 1957 to 5 January 1959 (succeeding Walter J. Kohler Jr. and preceding Gaylord Nelson) and a member of the US House of Representatives (R-WI 3) from 3 January 1961 to 31 December 1974 (succeeding Gardner R. Withrow and preceding Alvin Baldus).
Biography[]
Vernon Wallace Thomson was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin in 1905, and he became a lawyer before serving as mayor of Richland Center from 1944 to 1951, in the State Assembly from 1935 to 1951, as Speaker of the Assembly from 1939 to 1945, as Attorney General of Wisconsin from 1951 to 1957, as Governor from 1957 to 1959, and in the US House of Representatives from 1961 to 1974. He died in Washington DC in 1988.
