Ventre de Paris

The Ventre de Paris was one of 18th century Paris' seven major districts, located on the north side of the city. The district consisted of the Port Saint-Denis, Les Halles, and the Hotel de Ville, and a major landmark was the "Cour des Miracles" slum. Its name literally means "the Belly of Paris".
