Venedians

The Venedians were a Slavic tribe which originated in the Baltic coastal regions during the 1st century AD. Said to have been the fathers of Slavic Europe, they intermarried with the Sarmatians, and Romans considered them to look "repulsive" due to their racial intermixing. By late antiquity, the Venedians had become so populous that they branched into two separate groups, becoming the progenitors of other Slavic peoples, including the Anteans. By the mid-6th century, the Venedians continued to inhabit the lands around the sources of the Vistula, and the Venedians later became known as the "Wends".
