Veisafjordr

Veisafjordr was a Viking kingdom in Ireland which existed from 800 to 1169 AD, with Veisafjordr (Wexford) serving as its capital. Its name means "inlet of the mud flats" in Norse, and it was an independent Viking city-state for over 300 years, paying token dues to the kings of Laigin. In 1169, the city was conquered by the Normans after a two-day siege during the Norman invasion of Ireland.
