Vedrafjordr

Vedrafjordr was a Viking kingdom in Ireland which existed from 853 to 1170, centered around the port city of Vedrafjordr (Waterford). Its name means "ram ford" in Norse, and it was established as a longphort for Viking raiders. From 902 to 914, the city was vacated due to the native Irish reconquest of the Viking ports, but it was reconquered by the Viking jarl Ottir in 914. It remained a Norse city until 1170, when it fell to the Normans during the Norman invasion of Ireland and became an English royal city.
