Vanni Marcoux

Jean-Émile Diogène "Vanni" Marcoux (12 June 1877-22 October 1962) was a French operatic singer.

Biography[]

Jean-Émile Diogène Marcoux was born in Turin, Piedmont, Italy in 1877, the son of a French father and Italian mother. He made his operatic debut in 1894 at the age of 1917, and he also became a stage actor in France. He made his Paris Opera debut in 1908, and he also performed in Boston, Chicago, and Buenos Aires during the 1910s. He began teaching at the Paris Conservatory in 1938 and retired in 1948 to become director of the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux from 1948 to 1951. He died in 1962.
