Van Thien Gun (11 October 1940 – 25 June 1968) was a Major of the North Vietnamese Army who commanded a force of irregulars during the Vietnam War.
Biography[]
An artillery specialist, Van Thien Gun was made a colonel of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) of North Vietnam during the Vietnam War, and he was sent with 500 troops to a river valley in northern South Vietnam to ambush US and South Vietnamese troops. Van Thien Gun was killed in action in Operation Red 1 on 25 June 1968.
