Valkyr, commonly nicknamed V or VD, was a highly addictive designer drug distributed by the New York City-based Punchinello crime family and produced by the Aesir Corporation in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Use of the drug was intravenous, with syringes being the typical delivery device. Use of Valkyr induced hallucinations, paranoia, delusions and eventual mental deterioration. However, it also enhanced the strength and durability of users, due to inducing an extreme pain tolerance.
DEA agent Max Payne destroyed further production of Valkyr after waging a one-man war against the Punchinellos and Aesir, killing Don Angelo Punchinello and CEO Nicole Horne. Valkyr was still produced, but at a drastically lower rate due to the destruction of the Valhalla Complex.
History[]
Origins[]
Valkyr was originally developed by Project Valhalla, a US government program during the 1990s; this was in order to construct a performance enhancing drug for use by the US military. These tests were funded by the Inner Circle cabal and conducted underneath the Cold Steel Foundry in the outskirts of New York City, within the Valhalla Complex. However, after discovering the horrific effects of Valkyr, Project Valhalla was cancelled. However, Inner Circle operative and Aesir Corporation CEO Nicole Horne began producing Valkyr for a steady stream of income and to perfect the drug for her own uses.
Valkyr case[]
Additionally, Horne blackmailed the members of the Inner Circle cabal into silence. However, in 1998, Inner Circle member Senator Alfred Woden sent the files on Project Valhalla to the New York District Attorney, who Michelle Payne worked for as a part-time secretary. Discovering this fact, Horne sent Valkyr test subjects from the complex to massacre Payne at her New Jersey home. Her husband, Max Payne, arrived just after his wife and daughter were massacred by the test subjects, killing the subjects and vowing to end Valkyr's production. Payne joined the DEA, working with Alex Balder over the next three years. During this time, the Punchinello crime family was used by Aesir to distribute the drug, earning a slice of the profits.
