Vajrayana

Vajrayana is a system of Buddhist thought and practice that originated in India, later spreading to Tibet, Mongolia, and Bhutan. The main features are the use of mantras in chanting, having a strong focus on the guru (teacher), and the importance of meditation (including the visualization of bodhisattvas, enlightened Buddhists who delay their entrance into nirvana to help others achieve enlightenment). For these reasons, the faith is also known as "Esoteric Buddhism" and "Mantrayana".
