Named for the Ute tribe, the state was settled by Mormons, who make up 62% of the population; 80% of the population lives in the area around Salt Lake City. Utah is the only state to have a majority of the population adhering to a single church, and it has the second fastest-growing population of any US state. With the least income inequality, the state was rated the best state to live in as per a 2012 Gallup poll report. The state has a population of 2,995,919 people.
