Urraca el Valiente

Urraca el Valiente (April 1060-8 March 1126) was a Princess of the Kingdom of Castile. The daughter of King Alfonso VI of Castile and Queen Constance of Burgundy, Urraca was married to nobleman Lopo Martinez. She was the "Empress of All the Spains" from 1109 to 1126, when she died in childbirth.

Biography[]

Urraca el Valiente was the eldest daughter of King Alfonso VI of Castile and Queen-Consort Constance of Burgundy. The younger sister of Rodrigo I of Castile and the older sister of Teresa el Valiente, Urraca was a natural negotiator with diplomatic ability.

Urraca was used as a diplomat to Portugal and France, and she was married to Castilian nobleman Lopo Martinez, a fitting groom who was a good commander.
