Ur-Nammu was King of Ur from 2112 to 2095 BC, succeeding Utu-hengal and preceding Shulgi. During his reign, he conquered Lagash and defeated his former masters at Uruk, and he restored order after the end of Gutian rule over Mesopotamia. He died in battle against the Gutians in 2095 BC after his army abandoned him.
