The Upper West Side is an affluent residential area of western Manhattan, New York City. The UWS is the intellectual and cultural hub of New York, being home to Columbia University and Lincoln Center, and it is home to business types and wealthy citizens of the city. In 2010, UWS had a population of 209,084 people.
