Unruoch III of Friuli

Unruoch III of Friuli (840-874) was the Duke of Friuli from 863 to 874, succeeding Duke Eberhard of Friuli and preceding Berengar of Friuli.

Biography[]

Unruoch was born to the Unruochingers, and he was the son of Margrave Eberhard of Friuli. He was the brother of Count Berengar of Padua, Count Rudolf of Guines, and Count Adalhard of Schwaben. Unruoch was cynical, shy, and gluttonous, and he barely had good relations with King Louis II of Italy, his liege. Unruoch died in 874, and he was succeeded by Berengar of Friuli.
