The United Somali Congress (USC) was a Somali nationalist and anti-communist political party that existed in Somalia from 1987 to 2004. The USC was led by Mohamed Farrah Aidid during the Somali Civil War, during which it took over the Somali capital of Mogadishu. The USC's fighters were accused of stealing food from the starving Somali civilian population during the civil war, leading to the United States and other United Nations allies sending peacekeepers to fight against the USC. The USC existed until 2004, when it joined the Transitional National Government.
