The Union for French Democracy (UDF) was a Christian democratic political party in France that existed from 1978 to 2007. The party was founded as an electoral alliance to support President Valery Giscard d'Estaing, with the Republican Party of France, Radical Party of France, and several minor parties joining together to create the UDF. The UDF was usually a junior partner of the Rally for the Republic party and the Union for a Popular Movement in coalitions, but the UMP would absorb most of the UDF's members during the 21st century. In 2007, the UDF was succeeded by the Democratic Movement of France.
