Umm Taufiq was a Palestinian woman and the mother of Taufiq and Bashir Hammed. In 2015, her son Bashir was killed when Israeli Mista'arvim agents crashed his wedding in a bid to hunt down Taufiq, who had recently emerged from hiding. When Bashir's wife Amal demanded that Umm Taufiq and her daughter-in-law Nassrin put her in touch with Taufiq, the two women continued to insist that Taufiq was "dead". After Amal killed herself in a suicide bombing, Nassrin was persuaded by Shin Bet to leave for Germany with her children, and Taufiq was hunted down and killed by the Israelis, Umm Taufiq was left without a family to care for her.
