Umalat Magomedov

Umalat Magomedov (1979-31 December 2009) was the Emir of the Shariat Jamaat from 12 April 2009 to 31 December 2009, succeeding Omar Sheikhulayev and preceding Magomed Vagabov.

Biography[]

Umalat Magomedov was born in 1979 in Khasavyurt, Dagestan RSFSR, in the Soviet Union to a Sunni Dagestani family. Magomedov was appointed the emir of the Shariat Jamaat (Dagestan Front) by Dokka Umarov in 2009 following the death of Omar Sheikhulayev, and he was responsible for many ambushes against the Russian Army in the aftermath of the Second Chechen War. In 2009 he was killed in Khasavyurt, and his widow Janet Abdullaev carried out the 2010 Moscow Metro bombings.
