
Ulysses Freeman Doubleday (15 December 1792-11 March 1866) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-NY 24) from 4 March 1831 to 3 March 1833 (succeeding Gershom Powers and preceding Rowland Day) and from 4 March 1835 to 3 March 1837 (succeeding Day and preceding William H. Noble). Born in Otsego County, he worked as a printer in Cooperstown, Utica, and Albany, established the Saratoga Courier at Ballston Spa and the Cayuga Patriot at Auburn, and served in Congress and as a prison warden. He farmed in Scipio from 1837 to 1846 before working as a merchant in New York City, and he died in Bloomington, Illinois in 1866. He was the father of Thomas D. Doubleday, Abner Doubleday, and Ulysses Doubleday.
