The Ukrainian National Assembly - Ukrainian People's Self-Defense (UNA-UNSO) was a far-right Ukrainian nationalist organization which was founded by Dmytro Korchynsky on 4 November 1990. It was founded by ethnic Ukrainian Soviet Army veterans of the Soviet-Afghan War who opposed the August Coup of 1991, opposing reincorporation into the Soviet Union. By early 1993, it had 4,000 members, and it became a political party in December 1994. Its fighters joined Chechen separatist rebels in the First Chechen War, and they also took part in anti-Russian hooliganism both in Ukraine and abroad. In 2014, the UNA political wing merged into the Right Sector party.
