It serves as the enforcement arm of the US federal courts to ensure the effective operation of the judiciary and the integrity of the US Constitution; it is the primary agency for capturing fugitives, the protection of judiciary officers, the operation of the Witness Protection Program, and the execution of federal arrest warrants.
