The US Army Rangers are an elite formation of the US Military historically formed since 1751 during the Thirteen Colonies in the French and Indian War. Rangers have seen action in several wars such as the American Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Black Hawk War, American Civil War, and World War I before the modern unit's formation in 1942 during World War II. With six battalions, the Rangers have since been deployed in the Korean War, Vietnam War, Operation Eagle Claw, Operation Urgent Fury, Operation Just Cause, the Gulf War, the Somali Civil War, Kosovo War, Afghanistan War, and Iraq War, and they have been used as elite forces in several wars.
