The US 2nd Ranger Battalion was a battalion of the US Army Rangers that existed from 1943 to 1945 and from 1974 onwards. On 6 June 1944, the battalion took part in the Operation Overlord landings in Normandy, France, and the battalion took part in the liberation of France and the drive into Belgium and the German border. The battalion fought at the Battle of Huertgen Forest and took part in the crossing of the Rhine River in March 1945, and the battalion later fought in the Vietnam War, Operation Just Cause, the Afghanistan War, and the Iraq War.
