The US 26th Infantry Division was a US Army infantry division that was active from 1917 to 1919, 1923 to 1945, and 1947 to 1993. Activated in Boston and consisting of soldiers from Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Vermont, the "Yankee Division" served in France during World War I, in Western Europe and Germany during World War II, and stateside until its deactivation.
