
The 10th Mountain Division is a US Army infantry division which was active from 1943 to 1945, from 1948 to 1958, and from 1985. It was first activated during World War II, and it fought in the Italian theater of World War II before ending the war in Nauders, Austria on 5 May 1945. From 1954 to 1958, the division was sent to West Germany during the Cold War. The division was reactivated in 1985, and it fought in the Gulf War, the Somali Civil War, the Bosnian War, the Kosovo War, the Afghanistan War, and the Iraq War.
