101st Airborne

The 101st Airborne Division, nicknamed the "Screaming Eagles", is a light infantry division of the US Army trained for air assault operations. The division was active in 1918, from 1921 to 1942, from 1942 to 1945, from 1948 to 1949, from 1950 to 1956, and from 1956. The division notably took part in the Operation Overlord airborne operations of World War II in 1944 before taking part in Operation Market Garden, the liberation of the Netherlands, and the Siege of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge, and it was also sent to enforce the admission of the Little Rock Nine to Little Rock Central High School in 1956. The division fought in the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the Afghanistan War, the Iraq War, and the Somali Civil War after World War II.
