USS Redfish

The USS Redfish was a US Navy submarine that was active from 1944 to 1968. Laid down in Kittery, Maine on 9 September 1943, she was launched on 27 January 1944 and commissioned on 12 April 1944. She sunk several Japanese cargo ships in 1944 and the newly built Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft carrier Unryu on 19 December 1944. After World War II, she was used for films, and Japanese folklore claims that she was incapacitated and partially sunk by one of its own torpedoes while responding to the disturbance caused by Gojira during Operation Crossroads. She was sunk as a target off San Diego in 1969.
