Tebaldo Capulet (1498-1530), also called Tybalt Capulet, was a Veronese nobleman of the House of Capulet

Biography[]

Tybalt was the nephew of Lord Fulgencio Capulet, a wealthy Veronese nobleman of the House of Capulet in the city of Verona. Tybalt Capulet was known to be hot-headed and arrogant, and constantly in search of a fight. In 1530 he got involved in a fight between Capulet and House of Montague servants in the streets, ignoring the pleas of Benvolio Montague to not get involved. He gained more and more hatred for the Montagues, and swore to slay Romeo Montague when he tried to gain the love of his cousin Juliet Capulet.

Death[]

One day, Tybalt serached for Romeo to kill him. He had sent him a letter challenging him to a duel, but he was instead mocked by Mercutio Escalus, a member of the House of Escalus. Tybalt was angered but ignored him, and met Romeo. He found out that Romeo had secretly married Juliet, and an enraged Tybalt attacked him. Tybalt wounded Mercutio in the fight, and he tried to flee, leaving Romeo and Benvolio to care for him. Benvolio told Romeo that he had died, and Romeo chased after Tybalt and fought him with swords until he struck Tybalt, killing him.
