Turkmen students
The Turkmen are a Turkic people that live primarily in Central Asia in addition to Khorasan, Persia, and the Middle East. The Turkmen of Central Asia have little to do with the "Turkmen" of the Levant, who are descended from the people of Turkey and not the Turkmen of Turkestan. 4,248,000 live in Turkmenistan, 1,328,585 in Iran, 200,000 in Afghanistan, 152,000 in Uzbekistan, 110,000 in Pakistan, 46,885 in Russia, 15,171 in Tajikistan, and 7,709 in Ukraine. As many as 3,000,000+ Iraqi Turkmen live in Iraq and 3,500,000 Syrian Turkmen in Syria.
