Turdetani

The Turdetani were an Iberian tribe which inhabited the Guadalquivir Valley of southern Spain. The Turdetani were in constant contact with their Greek and Carthaginian neighbors, and they enjoyed civilized rule after welcoming Ionian colonists in the fifth century BC. In 197 BC, the Turdetani rose against their Roman governor, who had been appointed during the Punic Wars, and Cato the Elder crushed the Turdetani resistance in 195 BC.
