Tunguska

Tunguska is a mountain plateau in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Siberia, Russia, located within the Central Siberian Plateau. Named for the Evenks (historically called the "Tunguskans"), Tunguska is a largely uninhabited area, and it is entirely covered by sparse taiga, apart from mountain tundra-covered summits. It was the location of the 1908 Tunguska Event, where a comet or asteroid crashed into the Earth and caused a large explosion. During the 1960s, the Soviets used the remote region of Tunguska as a base for their "Project Solaris", an attempt to establish a secret base on the Moon. The Soviets established a nuclear power plant at "Science Town" as well as a base for the KGB, and the region also included the town of Tarkovskoye (the site of reported alien attacks on villagers), the small village of Patrukhya (home to two peasant houses, as well as a dissident home), and the large village of Kimbaherskye (guarded by Soviet Army soldiers and the Russian Army).
