
The Tufanci Corps was a foreign legion of the Ottoman Empire.

Accessed from the consulates of the Tokugawa Shogunate, Ming Empire, and the Mughal Empie, the Tufanci Corps consisted of Great Bombards as well as Janissary infantry. The corps was a foreign legion, and it gained fame in the First Indian War of Independence in 1857. They originally fought for the British East India Company in their Punjab Expedition, but aided the Indian siege of Meerut and fought for the rebels.
