Tsuyoshi Nagumo (born 1976) was a Japanese yakuza who served as Patriarch of the Hirose-gumi from 2016, succeeding Toru Hirose.
Biography[]
Tsuyoshi Nagumo was born in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan in 1976, the son of Tsubasa Nagumo. He was orphaned at a young age when Toru Hirose killed his father to protect the "Secret of Onomichi", but Hirose took Nagumo and another orphan, Takaaki Matsunaga, under his care. The two joined the Hirose-gumi yakuza family, and Nagumo became the group's captain. The family worked as a protection racket for the Masuzoe-gumi, and Nagumo's thuggish ways brought him into rivalry with his high school classmate Kazuaki Ino over their shared love of Kiyomi Kasahara, who departed for Tokyo for several years before returning to Onomichi to open Snack Kiyomi.
In 2016, when Kazuma Kiryu came to Kiyomi's bar to ask for help with finding his missing adoptive daughter Haruka Sawamura, Nagumo developed a jealous rivalry with Kiryu, fearing that Kiyomi would fall in love with him instead. The two frequently fought, including during a baseball game between Nagumo's Jingai Thunders and Kiryu and Ino's Setouchi Warriors. Not long after, Nagumo was confronted by Koji Masuzoe over his tardiness with connections, and, when Nagumo refused to collect from Kiyomi, Masuzoe took him back to his headquarters to torture him. Kiryu, impressed that Nagumo would stay strong in front of the woman he loved, rescued Nagumo and beat down Masuzoe and his henchmen, causing Nagumo to respect Kiryu and call him aniki.
Nagumo then introduced Kiryu to the Hirose-gumi, insisting that they treat Kiryu like a brother. Nagumo later revealed that the family had sheltered Haruka while she was in hiding, and that she had previously been working at Kiyomi's bar. Not long after, he grew angry on hearing that Kiyomi had been in a relationship with Tojo-kai officer Takumi Someya, who kidnapped her. Kiryu and the Hirose-gumi were forced to raid the hotel to rescue Kiyomi, only to find out that Someya had married Kiyomi. Yomei alliance captain Kanji Koshimizu attempted to exile the Hirose-gumi for their unsanctioned raid, but Yomei chairman Heizo Iwami told Koshimizu to spare them.
Nagumo fell into a depression over Kiyomi's marriage and the birth of her and Someya's child. He and Yuta Usami later accompanied Kiryu to Kabukicho, Tokyo to search for Shu Tatsukawa, the alleged father of Haruka's baby. They were assaulted by the Jingweon Mafia before fighting them off and reaching Tatsukawa's apartment, only to find that he had been murdered. The group later raided Little Asia, only to find that Koji Masuzoe was affiliated with the Saio Triad.
On the group's return to Onomichi, they found out that Hirose had kidnapped Haruto and disappeared. During the group's search for Hirose, Nagumo knocked out Koshimizu before finding Hirose at the Ryunan Shrine. There, they learned that Yuta was Haruto's real father. Masuzoe arrived shortly after and revealed that Yuta was the secret heir to the Saio Triad, and the Jingweon staged an assault. The group fought them off before raiding an Iwami Shipbuilding facility to rescue Haruto. There, Hirose attempted to kill Kiryu after the latter discovered the "Secret of Onomichi", but, when he could not bring himself do to so, he was executed by Iwami. Hirose then admitted to Nagumo that he had murdered his father before dying in his arms.

Nagumo walking to the Millennium Tower
The next day, Kiryu and the Hirose-gumi fought the Tojo-kai and the Yomei Alliance in both Onomichi and Kabukicho, joined by Shun Akiyama. Nagumo witnessed Someya's sacrifice for Kiyomi atop the Millennium Tower, after which he was entrusted with Someya and Kiyomi's daughter. Back in Onomichi, the group found Haruka and Haruto being held hostage by Tsuneo Iwami and Katsumi Sugai. Nagumo was shot in the leg while attempting to disarm Sugai, but Sugai shot himself with his last bullet. One month later, Nagumo met with Kiyomi and her daughter Hiromi Someya, and he took over as patriarch of the Hirose-gumi as he, Matsunaga, and Tagashira aimed to rebuild the Yomei-rengo.
