

Tsunesuke Akechi was a general of the Oda clan during the 1540s. A retainer of Nobuhide Oda, he took command of an army of Ashigaru units that defeated Saito daimyo Dosan Saito at the Battle of Mino Fields in 1546.
Biography[]
Tsunesuke Akechi was born in Owari Province to a family of retainers that served the ruling Oda clan, and he became a retainer of Nobuhide Oda. In 1546, following the death of Muneyori Takayama, Tsunesuke Akechi was appointed to become the commander of an Oda army that was formed in Owari's castle to fight the Saito to the north. Tsunesuke was sent to attack the army of daimyo Dosan Saito in 1546, and he met the Saito army at the Battle of Mino Fields. Tsunesuke was victorious thanks to his knowledge of strategy, and he proceeded to retreat to Owari to gather reinforcements.
