Tsuchimochi

The Tsuchimochi clan was a Japanese clan which ruled over Bungo Province during the Sengoku period. The clan, led by Chikashige Tsuchimochi, adopted Christianity after coming into contact with Portuguese Roman Catholic merchants who had been invited to Kyushu by the Otomo clan, and they became early opponents of the Shimazu clan's plan to unify Kyushu.
